March Update

3/18/20264 min read

heyoo, its me again, Aaron !! Yes... the developer of the UNTITLED THRIFTING FASHION GAME you prolly found on your feed awhile ago!

It's been awhile since my last update... But fret not- I am still grinding on the game and i have a great update that...

The styling gameplay is mostly done‼️

Let me walk you through it, starting with your boutique's customers!

Last update I mentioned i was working on the system for generating them, and i'm nearly finished with it! I just gotta tweak it so that they have horrible fits less often...

Some generated customers. The final game will have both randomly generated customers and pre-scripted ones with ongoing stories👀

Ok but whats the gameplay like !!

Each customer will come in with a request for certain items/outfits! Here are all the request types:

  • Match Attributes: The customer asks (plainly or vaguely) for clothes with/without certain attributes!
Attributes include: Aesthetic/Style, Colors and Patterns!
Ex. A customer wants an outfit featuring DENIM, but without any BLUE?!
Ex. A customer wants an outfit that makes them look like a "Victorian ghost who haunts graveyards seeking lost souls to devour" (maybe they mean they want GOTHIC & LOLITA styles..?)
[ This is fully implemented, yay!! ]

  • Match Item(s) to an Outfit: Determine a customer's style from their outfit and give them items(s) you think will match!
[ This is partially implemented! ]

  • Freestyle: If a customer really trusts you, they may ask you to style them with no restrictions! Preferably give them something they'd like... Or just dress them however you want!
[ This isn't implemented yet, but should be super easy! ]

Now, Try It On !!

Once you've put together their item(s), you have 2 options to submit them, each with their own pros/cons:

  • "What Do You Think?" - Ask the customer to review your item(s). If they want any changes, you'll have up to 3 tries to check again with new item(s) and get it right!

  • "It On!" - All-or-nothing, the customer tries on your items! If they're not a fan... They're out of there, the sale is off and you get no money or XP...·°՞(¯□¯)՞°·. BUT, if you get it right... You get paid way more and get more XP than normal!

If you forget someone's request, dont worry! Theres a tab in the upper-left that can remind you what they want.

[Imagine the red block in the gif is a curtain... i havent drawn it yet...]

Hopefully this risk-and-reward mechanic will make styling more compelling and add a bit of strategy!

If this mechanic sounds familiar... its because I stole it bar-for-bar from the Style Savvy series lol. They haven't made a game in a decade so.... its free real estate what can I say!

Now, its time to get paaiiiddd!!🤑🤑🤑

If the customer's satisfied with what you've put together then its time to get that paper‼️

Your payment & XP gain depend on the request & your confidence styling it.

Get paid to buy more clothes, furniture, etc. and level up to unlock more content and features!!

Additionally, your friendship level increases each time a customer returns. Who knows what cool things might happen if you max that out.. 👀

Steam page soon⁉️

As for my next steps, i'm working on finishing the styling gameplay while slowly starting work on putting together a Steam page for the game!!

I gotta compile some screenshots and make a whole dang trailer for it (;_;) but heres a sneak peak at the game's AWESOME thumbnail made by the goat @nou_1182!

"Wheres the video updates? ;_; "

You mighta noticed I haven't uploaded a video update in awhile... Thats cause theyre pretty time-consuming to make! @_@

Since I want to make the game playable ASAP for you, I've decided to momentarily pause those to focus on development!

I'll still be doing monthly email updates, but I prob wont make another video until the steam page is ready. Hope thats chill!

BTW- if you sent feedback/ideas in the last email's form, thank you so much :D I've read them all and have written down a few awesome ideas from them to add into the full game!! It means alot and I really appreciate all your support.

See you next month, take care of yourself! (ꈍ◡ꈍ)
